A Contrarian View of Mr. Darcy

It occurred to me the other day that I have posted at very scattered times about some of my contrarian views of Mr. Darcy. So, for those who might be interested in thinking about Mr. Darcy (even at the end of Pride & Prejudice) in other than a totally romantic, idealized way, check out the following sampler of observations of mine out from the past 18 months in that against-the-grain vein:

http://sharpelvessociety.blogspot.com/2011/04/unsettling-shades-of-charlotte-smith.html

http://sharpelvessociety.blogspot.com/2011/03/jane-austen-radical-but-covert-feminist.html

http://sharpelvessociety.blogspot.com/2010/08/re-reading-p-mary-bennet-good-satan-of.html

And these are only the tip of a very large iceberg---and the "Titanic" on a collision course with it is the universal notion of the reformed Darcy as the ultimate Prince Charming.

Cheers, ARNIE
